Aug29/06: Moo

Just a couple reminders/new blood:

Dead PoeticVices: October 31
(Also on that day: Triptych re-issue)

How’d they make my list?:
Follow-up to New Medicines, which was an amazing CD (thanks Kev). Also note that they have a new lineup now: new drummer, guitarist and bassist. If you haven’t, try to check out In Memory on their PV page (I think it was titled that, I forget really).

Destroy The RunnerSaints: Sept 12
Current fav song: Columbia (avail via their Myspace)

How’d they make my list?:
A relatively new band that I just found from Solid State’s promo. I’ve listened and looked at Columbia and My Darkness…and I love them. Their sound is great, with a nice driving beat…which isn’t as hardcore as Norma Jean, but is basically at the same level (Solid State, remember?). Their lyrics pack a punch, and even relate to me.

Lyrics for “Columbia”
We all learn from our failures
I never thought I could fall this far
So far from you
With no desire to look back
I’ll embrace this forever
Divorcing my adoration
As death marches to the grave
We all learn from our mistakes, let it break me
We all learn from our failures
Failure is death, and I have overcome it
With not a single tear of remembrance
I choose to forget and start all over

SkilletComatose: Oct. 3

How’d they make my list?:
Like all other Skillet CDs, this coming one will rock. HARD. There are many times when listening to just one song from an artist sets the wrong impression (be it good or bad) and many times its because we heard only one song and had a good impression we get disappointed in the end. But no, not with Skillet. With Skillet, you can be guaranteed to have a solid album; a solid 7th album.
Listen to Rebirthing if you haven’t yet

NeverthelessLive Like We’re Alive: Sept 19

How’d they make the list?:
Another band that I’ve heard recently, though more recent than 2hours (like Destroy the Runner). There are just a few bands that I hear on the radio (ie. ChristianRock) and instantly know they are a band I will like. One example is Hyper Static Union. the other is none other than Nevertheless. Strong lyrics and strong instrumentals, like all the other bands I prefer.
Have a listen of The Real on their Myspace

PillarThe Reckoning: Oct 3

How’d they make the list?:
Pillar has come out with many great songs, but sometimes there are a few that need a few more listens to fully appreciate. Hrmm, i’m a little edgy now.
Try to get a listen of Everything

Bands/future releases I am scared for:

mewithoutyou – Although I truly love these guys, the new song I heard on their Myspace (courtesy of the new T&N/SS promo) left me feeling a bit edgy. However, it’s not the first time they’ve made me feel edgy – the first time was with January 1979, and now, it’s one of my favourites from them. Perhaps like the other songs, it gets better with more exposure. For those who haven’t had mewithoutyou exposure, their lyrics are very poetic, with very intricate instrumentals. Their vocals ISN’T pretty, but you eventually grow on it (personal opinion). However, they are VERY faith-oriented, as they pray before concerts, music video/photoshoots etc. One members also swears in his blog – haha.
Actually, Nice And Blue Pt 2 [show]ERROR: No passage found for your query.

is sounding better now…

Another longer listen now…OH YEAH IT’S GOOD.

Relient K – When you thought their “selling out” to mainstream, as some of us have observed, has somewhat halted after the Apathetic EP, they’re in the studios to make another album (source: gotee). This time, they’ll be joining up with a pure mainstream producer. But, good for them, making it in mainstream! Good for them.
