So today was Frosh Connexions, the AFC hosted ‘event’ where we get to meet other froshies of our university. For those who didn’t really catch what I was trying to say…Aaron and I were the only two from UOIT. This, of course, isn’t bad since we got a chance to finally talk together as a group with Yu-Ling regarding future ACF/CCF plans.

Aaron and I elaborated a bit more about what we wanted to do and a couple of things we’ve thrown into the air so far, or have both thought about:

  1. Don’t plan too, too big: start with a prayer group/bible study group
  2. Balance: hardcore prayer and bible studying, even if it’s bi-weekly (time is TBD) will definitely “turn-off” weaker Christians or non-believers…just look at how I turned out for some fellowship gatherings

There is one thing that really complicates things though…is the application to be an OFFICIAL UOIT group… Now, we now know that there is a person named Dennis who is applying for a CCF at UOIT…one problem is we do not know him. Another problem could be the fact that UOIT already has a Christian fellowship! a very well established, organized and attended one, named Campus Church (which is something none of us have seen before). If an official CCF/ACF was to form, there could be political issues…which we all don’t want. However, if political issues form and there is some form of complaining…then is there something larger than trying to outreach to the campus then? since if we are all doing this in God’s name, and both doing what we think is outreach to nonbelievers/frail Christians…aren’t we both doing the same thing then? So, IF politics ensue…I would question WHY, as I’ve already stated a couple of times; could it be because of power? Anyway, this is just a thought, so I hope no harm is done.

So what are some future plans that we’ve talked with Yu-Ling about?:

  1. Have a meeting of everyone we know who wants to get involved, and have a prayer walk on campus!
  2. Grab the ideas we’ve had floating in the air and form some sort of plan: where do we want to go? where do we want to be in a couple of years? what do we want to achieve? who, what, when and where? All fellowship related, of course

It’s been too long, my freefall in darkness…my heart in a constant black, chilled with it’s ice cage. I need You to thaw it, to set me ablaze again…or at least let me help others to. I should have died for my hypocrisy, but You keep me alive; I am in Your debt forever…so let me do whatever Your will desires.

I wouldn’t worry too, too much about there being another fellowship. A lot of other schools have a lot of different fellowships because they all have different focuses and burdens for different people. Unless they happen to be doing the exact same thing as you guys, which I’m assuming is reaching out to Chinese/Asian people since you’re an A/CCF, then there’s no need to worry. If they do have the same vision or burden as you, then maybe you don’t need to start a fellowship. You may even want to drop by and see what they’re like some time.
