blogONESo, day 1 of Frosh…should be very exciting, yes? Yes, it should be! However, everybody didn’t seem to have too much enthusiasm…but, oh well.
Playfair: Weird, fast and awkward. I don’t really remember anyone I “met” through there, other than a few! Let’s see, Craig the pres of our core, Brian, Joseph the engy, Amy the FBIT, Gus the FBIT, Pimp the engy. I kid you not…his real name is Pimp! We all smirked a little, seriously.
Lunch: Usual Chartwell’s lines…usual Chartwell’s quality; I don’t really see what’s wrong with the burgers? Anyway, I had my fries…and the mascot hit my plate onto the floor…the clumsy bulldog, BAH! Yes, highlight of my day: Mascot destroying my opportunity to eat my fries…BUT IT’S OK, since I didn’t really want to eat them anyway…
I checked out EWB as well as Campus Church. The email I sent to my contacts about this meeting with Campus Church can be seen after the jump…

So today was the first day of Frosh for me, and I got a chance to take a look at the different groups and have chats and stuff, and I took it upon myself to talk to Campus Church. I eventually had a chat with the president of Campus Church at UOIT, Adam Doran, and I even brought up the notion of ACF; I wanted to get more info.
Regarding “jurisdiction” and that stuff: If ACF or another CF were to form and be officialised, there would be conflict with Campus Church. To back up his point, Adam presented the idea of having two faculties of the exact same program (ie. TWO engineering faculties of the same thing: ENGINEERING). The goal would be to have UNITY on the campus, which he and I both agree on. And currently, that is something they recognize they DON’T have 100%.
I talked to Adam about the whole Asian influx, and he notices it as well. He told me he definitely feels the need and has also WANTS Campus Church to expand to different “Connect Groups”. He has NO PROBLEM with us helping create an Asian connect group as a branch of Campus Church in order for other Asians to feel comfortable.
Campus Church doesn’t really have a SET schedule of meetings, but meets once in a while to have bible studies (they focus on bible studies to grow intimately with Christ) as well as every Monday and Wednesday at 1PM at our “O” (mega Engineering ring). If you want more info on them, campuschurch.ca
I’ll be keeping in touch with Adam regarding Campus Church stuff, so please email me with comments, suggestions, things to not say/do…etc.

So, for me…that idea isn’t too absurd: helping Campus Church obtain unity in the campus by starting the Asian branch in their connect groups…
If you remember anything about me, I like unity. I really do.
Also during lunch were a couple of bands…and the Toronto Christian rapper: NIFTY
UOIT/DC was REALLY non-receptive of ANYTHING today…we were all so drained, haha. Must’ve been the weather. Anyway, Nifty kept on smiling and was even joking around with the quietness. I picked up his CD for $10 (as opposed to how much it’d cost at Mitchell’s)…and also got it signed

Anyway, another day of Frosh tomorrow…starting with me waking up at 5:45am to get to campus by 8am…OWNED.
