Sept29/06: A Year and then Some

So here I am in the Simcoe building, 40mins early for my lecture again, with the net constantly going on and off because it’s stupid like that.

Not much has been heard from Adwin Lam[d] recently…and well, to your advantage, there hasn’t been too much happening in my life to actually write for you to read – not that you’d really give a shit anyway. So, everything i am saying will be scattered, I guess…since i will try to randomly remember important things that you might like to read.

Let’s start with the fact that i am now an EWB@UOIT member. Well, since we don’t have a graduated class, EWB cannot consider us as an official chapter yet, unlike Waterloo, UT, Ryerson etc. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t do things in the name of EWB. In fact, we’re doing a lot of fundraising, trying to gain an earlier approval by our works, haha. So, we have a pub night on Oct 5th…hurray. Bad thing is, everybody I’ve advertised to takes the bus, just like me, so the last bus leaves campus at 10…the pub night starts at 9…hrmm. Tough.

Righto, so yesterday was the first Connect Group for me, from 5-6pm. Our group members are Sunny (3rd yr), Cheryl and Ainsley(2nd yr), Kathy the leader (2nd yr), Edwin and I. Missing was Chris Forbes…haha. Connect Group is currently doing a study based on a Christian book, so it’s kind of similar to what we used to do in Hosanna with IKDG…or what Aletheia tried to do with The Jesus I Never Knew. We never really got to know each other in CG, but got to talk quite a bit about the topic, the book as well as some stuff that happens around us. And so continues my evaluation of Campus Church…currently, I see it as very straightforward and by-the-book. They have had no attempts to get to know anyone new better than a first-name and program basis…What’s also funny is there’s another campus fellowship known as Deeper Life Fellowship. I wonder if there was any drama revolving around that?

After CG, I promptly ran to the bus stop at the O, since mom told me the bus was at 6:10, only to be deceived and waited until 6:20 – the time the bus was to come on time. On the bus, I had an hour’s worth of conversation with a chap in Industrial manufacturing/design at DC – his name was Eric [Podonsky?? typo]. Anyway, it was really cool to know that he went to ACE in Toronto, as well as the dark secrets of the not-so-techy SATEC (he used to go there). It was also interesting to hear more opinions regarding world issues, such as poverty. It’s somewhat true: economy is based on others being poor. Other things that stood out: standardized minimum wage; low-ass minimum wage/poverty replaced slavery; the amount of money Americans spend on diet products could have been used to provide food for the world.
It was interesting, nonetheless, so I hope to have a chance to hang out with him again sometime.

In the words of my dad, to his homosexual friend in highschool:

I like women, so don’t touch me.

And like women I do. A lot.

This Starbucks mild coffee I bought is making me feel good – this is the first coffee I’ve ever consumed since March. Not only that, it only cost me $1.70…which I think is reasonable. However, I don’t tend to make this a habit…just today, since it’s Friday.

One of the strangest things this week would have to be an email i received from Arthur – I had been put into a new worship team. Ok, what’s wrong with this picture? Well:

  1. I talked to Nathan about my break
  2. I talked to Arthur about my break

So, I had to fire out a reply to Holly and the new team, which conveniently had Art CC’d…fully explaining my situation. I didn’t have to do this…it should have already been sorted out DURING their organizing…haha.

Any other news?…probably not…other than, I finished a 2000+ word essay last saturday which i am handing in today (should be in 8mins, rather), as well as a 250 word memo…and in around 5 hours, I am writing a linear algebra quiz. Midterms are in 2 weeks and many other things before that.

I have my case of left-eye twitching again, due to lack of sleep, which should be regained this weekend, my ring finger is constantly typing S accidentally and my breath stinks (I need Uththaman to supply me with gum…).

Oh, and today marks the anniversary of my grandma’s death. The word ‘anniversary’ sounds too cheerful. Sadly, there are no direct synonyms for ‘anniversary’.
