Remember the pictures and video of my discovery of the Open University of Hong Kong? I was really appalled at how the OUHK’s logo had a huge resemblance to what the “old” UOIT logo looked like, when it was green and white. However, after you do some reading of the OUHK history, you see that the OUHK (first called OLI) was established in 1989 [see the entire chronology]. Their logo was created in August of 1997, the August after the HKSAR was formed.
Why am I so distraught about the logo!? UOIT’s logo is *basically* the mirror image of OUHK’s logo! However, the O (for ONTARIO) in the UOIT logo is significantly smaller than that in OUHK’s.
I wonder if this is why they changed colours. Of course, the change of colours was also probably due to trends and “futuristic’” looking colour schemes. Or, to not look like Durham College
