I think I can be proud to say that I’ve completed Darwinia, a PC game by indie-producers Introversion. I must admit, when I first began playing, I couldn’t see how it garnered the 84% MetaCritic score, and the graphics (or lack of) was kind of irritating. Instead of background music, I am stuck with ambient noise, such as footsteps and buzzing from my programs or the virus’.
All of this SHOULD have deterred me from returning to the game, yet I found myself compelled to finish purging the infected Darwinia world of viruses. 17.1 hours later, and with a heck-of-a-lot Red Army casualties (those are the infected baddies), I did it!
As I watched the end “cut-scene”, I had a tingly feeling.
Who would’ve thought I’d actually finish and enjoy a RTS (and remember to tell of it)?
Bravo, Introversion…now, if only I can finish Uplink…and if only you can pop-out a few more games
(I am quite intimidated in Defcon).
