Fighting the Relapsing Battle

I’ve previously written a post (Worse Than Before, But So Much More), which talked about our human issues of relapsing into sin, and I’ve found that I’ve been having a few discussions with others regarding this topic.

The first and foremost thought/issue which most people talk about is their “rocky walk” with God. This can be referred to as rolling hills, jagged mountains, deep dark valleys…the list goes on. As I’ve previously stated before in the other post about how the demons return when we are at a new “high” or new/reclaimed level with God, I can restate this in a clearer manner:

While you’re walking with God, your path gets clouded with sin. God frees you from sin, and the demons are sent away. They return in greater numbers because you are at a new high, a new level with God.

I don’t have the answers to this issue (believe me, anyone who says THEY have the absolute answer is lying), but I do have some insight to offer. Firstly, when they (the demons) return, you can either immediately give up the battle (relapse into sin), or “fight” to defend your holy fort — to hold your ground. However, your fight is not one which can be fought physically or intellectually, but spiritually, focusing on the source of your strength (the Word) and the Trinity.

This is how I view our dependency:

  • You rely on the Word as your anchor while the waves crash upon your vessel.
  • You rely on God to supply you with everything you need.
  • You rely on Jesus to redeem you and allow you to communicate with the Father.
  • You rely on the Spirit to fill you with light so you can see.

I’m bound to have more thoughts into this eventually…
