Of course, by “my day”, I literally DO mean my day, not in the sense of a recap on how today had been for me, but rather a recollection of things that happened on my special day.
I hold it against nobody that they didn’t remember, because my disgusting pessimistic side doesn’t think too highly of my special day. However, for those that did remember and sent their greets before hand, or even SMS, thanks — big cookies and smiles for you (which I ate, sorry).
So today on my special day, I woke up at 6am, unable to sleep any longer, because there was a large patch of (what I thought was) sunlight bleeding through my crippled blinds. Of course, the entire day was over-cast, so that was not the bright sunshine bleeding into my eyelids waking me up…but something else. And so I began my special day with my daily bread, and some heavy things on my heart/mind were definitely given some insight, though those are issues beyond my control.
But hark, my state of awareness and alertness would not last forever, and I promptly fell asleep again until 11 or so, when I awoke to cook my special day burgers for the family; nothing too special for these burgers, actually.
Recently we’ve been shopping around, test-driving and discussing (with dealers and brokers) about getting a second new car, since I now have a G2 and one car isn’t too convenient when the dad has to work, but being special today a revelation occurred to me: we really don’t need a second car. I said this mainly because…it is an expensive bugger, and I really believe paying for the new living arrangement takes precedence over a new car, considering I actually RARELY drive on my own. And so that is what it means to be special, on your special day: saving thousands and thousands of dollars and allocating that cost to better use!
As arranged, I headed off to Jermaine’s place for some wild Banging action, since I had left a very lasting impression amongst my friends when I brought it to a BBQ. I really wish Vivek could have made it, since it would have been MUCH more fun having a sheriff, vice, renegade and 2 outlaws Banging each other to oblivion — even special days can’t win all the time. I actually don’t know if I should have mentioned it was my special day…but regardless, it was a very fun time for us — Harry and I even got into a heated discussion about the apaloosa/mustang cancellation effects, but fun times indeed!
Dinner on my special day pretty much consists of Jap take-out nowadays, which we all enjoy with a beer. Tonight’s was a special little Stella Artois — I’m either choosing great quality beers that taste the same (cause they’re…GRRRRRRRREAT!), or my discernment of different beers is down in the gutter now. Either way, 95 pieces of deliciousness, with liquid gold (note: not oil)…eventually followed by black-forest cake.
All in all, today has been a very silent, reserved, special day…like everyday. Yes, even on exam days.
EDIT: Big ups to Harry for checking the calendar and remembering I was born 5 days before him, when he got home. Better late than never! Thanks friends
