I don’t have a Wii, and I won’t be getting one too soon…but having a list of games is definitely fun, right??? Keep on reading past the break for a list of what I’d definitely tap (in no particular order), and feel free to contribute in the end!
- Zack & Wiki – Interestingly enough, its an adventure game that even Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame has reviewed. Prior to watching his little comedy review, I was already intrigued…
- No More Heroes – I caught the previews of this game from the gaming sites, and it seemed incredibly cool. Following the updates from Suda51 was interesting, but of course we know that media coverage is always one of those things that over-glorifies certain things. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy NMH for its crazy adventure-ness and assassin blood-letting. However, the voice-over seems kind of annoying.
- Okami – Originally on the PS2, the crest drawing should be immensely easier for the Wii.
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 VS FIFA 09 VS Mario Strikers Charged – You’ve gotta have one good football (soccer) game for the console! PES08 goes the 2P route, with a unique point-and-pass system for advanced moves, while FIFA09 will have Mii support (have you seen the Mii versions of Ronaldinho and Rooney? LULS). Mario Strikers Charged is fast-paced cartoony goodness though, if I don’t want too much realism.
- Super Smash Bros Brawl – The Wii staple, really.
- Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles – RE. Rail shooter. Zombies and zombie-related killing. What more do I need to say?
- SSX Blur – Looks smooth enough from the videos, so it should be one of those casual fast-paced boarding games to get my edge on.
- Wii Fit – Game comes free with Balance Board, can’t complain about that. *cough*
Of course, these are just games that I’d really want to get. There are games which are under heavy consideration, such as the following (in no real order…really):
- Guitar Hero 3 VS Rock Band – At least ONE music game is going to be needed to spur the interest of the father. Question is if he’s interested in it!
- Zelda: Twilight Princess – Another Wii staple, though it might be…too long for me?
- Excite Truck – One of the first games ever played on a Wii. It’d be one of the few racers available, really. Plus, I’d be able to use my own MP3 soundtrack.
- Ghost Squad – Epic memories in the arcade…somewhat epic moments playing at Vivek’s dorm. One of those games that are sometimes SO BAD that its good when there are friends over, haha.
- House of the Dead 2/3 – Arcade classic…but nothing new for the Wii.
- Madden 09 All Play – US football…arcade Mii game mode and sim mode. Not too too big of a US football fan, but its something the father would like, probably.
- Mario kart Wii – Another Wii staple, and one of the more…rewarding racing games, despite its cartoon-ness. Well, come on…all you have are Mario characters!
- Lego Star Wars/Lego Indiana Jones – EPICNESS, right there.
- Gyrostarr – Reminds me of Torus Trooper. WiiWare only.
- Lostwinds – Another WiiWare game. Adventure!
Items to keep on the look-out:
- Shaun White Snowboarding – Uses Balance Board accessory to control your player. Graphics might be good??
- Skate It – Also uses BB for control (as well as Wiimote/Nunchuck for tricks). For the ex-boarder in me.
- Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World – EPIC RPG, with its combat system! But would I invest the time??
Those are about all the games I’m absolutely crazy about, though I really do hope there will be more affordable, interesting ones coming out. I’d definitely borrow Twilight Princess from someone (*COUGH*STEPHEN?) just so I could do the Twilight Hack to get the Homebrew Channel.
