I don’t have a Wii, and I won’t be getting one too soon…but having a list of games is definitely fun, right??? Keep on reading past the break for a list of what I’d definitely tap (in no particular order), and feel free to contribute in the end!
- Zack & Wiki – Interestingly enough, its an adventure game that even Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame has reviewed. Prior to watching his little comedy review, I was already intrigued…
- No More Heroes – I caught the previews of this game from the gaming sites, and it seemed incredibly cool. Following the updates from Suda51 was interesting, but of course we know that media coverage is always one of those things that over-glorifies certain things. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy NMH for its crazy adventure-ness and assassin blood-letting. However, the voice-over seems kind of annoying.
- Okami – Originally on the PS2, the crest drawing should be immensely easier for the Wii.
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 VS FIFA 09 VS Mario Strikers Charged – You’ve gotta have one good football (soccer) game for the console! PES08 goes the 2P route, with a unique point-and-pass system for advanced moves, while FIFA09 will have Mii support (have you seen the Mii versions of Ronaldinho and Rooney? LULS). Mario Strikers Charged is fast-paced cartoony goodness though, if I don’t want too much realism.
- Super Smash Bros Brawl – The Wii staple, really.
- Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles – RE. Rail shooter. Zombies and zombie-related killing. What more do I need to say?
- SSX Blur – Looks smooth enough from the videos, so it should be one of those casual fast-paced boarding games to get my edge on.
- Wii Fit – Game comes free with Balance Board, can’t complain about that. *cough*
Of course, these are just games that I’d really want to get. There are games which are under heavy consideration, such as the following (in no real order…really):
- Guitar Hero 3 VS Rock Band – At least ONE music game is going to be needed to spur the interest of the father. Question is if he’s interested in it!
- Zelda: Twilight Princess – Another Wii staple, though it might be…too long for me?
- Excite Truck – One of the first games ever played on a Wii. It’d be one of the few racers available, really. Plus, I’d be able to use my own MP3 soundtrack.
- Ghost Squad – Epic memories in the arcade…somewhat epic moments playing at Vivek’s dorm. One of those games that are sometimes SO BAD that its good when there are friends over, haha.
- House of the Dead 2/3 – Arcade classic…but nothing new for the Wii.
- Madden 09 All Play – US football…arcade Mii game mode and sim mode. Not too too big of a US football fan, but its something the father would like, probably.
- Mario kart Wii – Another Wii staple, and one of the more…rewarding racing games, despite its cartoon-ness. Well, come on…all you have are Mario characters!
- Lego Star Wars/Lego Indiana Jones – EPICNESS, right there.
- Gyrostarr – Reminds me of Torus Trooper. WiiWare only.
- Lostwinds – Another WiiWare game. Adventure!
Items to keep on the look-out:
- Shaun White Snowboarding – Uses Balance Board accessory to control your player. Graphics might be good??
- Skate It – Also uses BB for control (as well as Wiimote/Nunchuck for tricks). For the ex-boarder in me.
- Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World – EPIC RPG, with its combat system! But would I invest the time??
Those are about all the games I’m absolutely crazy about, though I really do hope there will be more affordable, interesting ones coming out. I’d definitely borrow Twilight Princess from someone (*COUGH*STEPHEN?) just so I could do the Twilight Hack to get the Homebrew Channel.

Hmm…
Okami looks really really good. Probably one of the best games for Wii (after Smash Bros Brawl). And I’ve heard positive things about Indiana Jones.
I have both Strikers AND Pro Evolution Soccer. I guess for the days I don’t want some Shaolin Soccer-esque soccer ridiculousness, I can switch to PES? I like them both.
You forgot to include Mario Galaxy on your list! It’s honestly the first “adventure-type” game I’ve played (i.e., like Indiana Jones or Okami, where you have to go on an epic journey of epic proportions). I have to say that Galaxy, from what I’ve started so far, is amazing. Graphics are sweet!
Hehe, after playing Winning Eleven/Pro Evo. Soccer, I don’t think I can ever go back to EA’s FIFA series…unless they have made it more realistic (I found FIFA too simplistic…like when you’re sprinting and shoot the ball, there’s a chance it goes into the net; do the same in Winning Eleven, and the ball probably sails out of the field).
And Kart…that’s all I have to say about it! If only there was a Mario Tennis for Wii……
IF you get the console…I got it at Costco; it was about $260, so with tax, just under 3 bills.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Rockband, GH though, haha. And I’ve never heard of the other games on your list, so I can’t comment on them…
If Mario Galaxy turns out to be more than awesome for me (as I’m not a fan of those rpg/adventure games), I might think about the Indiana Jones or Okami…but ENOUGH GAMES FOR ME RIGHT NOW! Sigh.

You didn’t like RB even when we played it??? TOGETHER???
But yeah, Galaxy is one of the unmentioned, just cause. Hahaha. Its definitely one of the best games out there though, don’t get me wrong.
You think when the time comes, I either borrow PES08 and Strikers from you and rent FIFA09 and do a comparison; or should we organize some time to go to your place and I rent FIFA09 for us to try?

my own personal opinion! okami is wonderful, and reminds me of zelda.
zelda twilight princess is excellent, but nothing beats ocarina of time.
mario strikers, stay away from that – to me, it was fun for about three 5 minute games.
wii fit = gimmick, better off at a gym.
guitar hero and rockband i hate with a passion. i say stick to real guitar
smash bros brawl, if you have a wii and dont have this game, you arent a nintendo fan!
umbrella chronicles = good stuff, but not very long

@bujumed:
Well, I’m buying a Balance Board…it just so happens Wii Fit comes with it! hahahahaha
But yeah, my mom really likes the gimmick-ness with Wii Fit.
GH/RB, I also didn’t like too much…the real thing is much better and gives better lee-way than the game.
As for SSBB, some people might not like the fighting genre, so they wouldn’t necessarily buy it.

Force Unleashed when its released, without a doubt.

Haha, call me a n00b (I cannot believe I just typed that — oh the horror!), but I tried SSBB once and I was mad confused. Maybe it was the way of controlling the characters or something, but I couldn’t get into it? Though I only played one round, so I guess I have no justification in what I said
Strikers is more for multi-player/online….though I doubt I’d ever play online?
About the renting or organizing a gaming…we have to see! Are you going to get a Wii for real?
[Reply]
Oh, when we played RB, that was pretty fun, with my falsetto on GLaDOS! BUT don’t you remember that I destroyed Flyleaf’s song?? Or was it so bad that it has been permanently erased from your memory?
I don’t know man, I tried DDR once, on its most easiest level, and I thought I could kick ass in it…..HAH. GH/RB = DDR, rock and or rolled style. I was more than epic fail.
[Reply]
@gusto5: Oh man, yes! Was kind of doubting if that was going to be on my list, but at heart I just can’t deny it!
@sherman: Its uncertain if I’m going to get a Wii, I’ll have to wait a few months and see if I can obtain one somehow… However, it will probably be time to focus on studies again when that time comes. I’m not so sure I’d play Strikers online against laggots…but the gameplay looks fast enough for the family to settle a little dispute with. I’ll have to see when the time comes, haha.
Because I’m more accustomed to moving my fingers somewhat “fastly” (ie. just moving, not actually playing) across the fretboard, GH/RB isn’t that similar to DDR for me. DDR is just nuts.
[Reply]
did someone say DDR?

*cough* PS3! *cough*
haha but wii is cool too. SSBM a must. and pretty much any mario game (strikers, mario kart, mario party) is a guarantee win.
As for GH3 or RB…. wait for GH4 or RB2!! i just picked up RB two weeks ago and then they announce RB2 and i was like ‘aww..’
